On Tuesday 19 March a war memorial marking ceremony took place at St Mary's Church, Neasden Lane, NW10. Brent Borough Police Commander Matthew Gardner attended the ceremony along with Brent’s Leader Cllr. Muhammed Butt, Cllr. Lincoln Beswick, MBE, a Chelsea Pensioner, local school children andmembers of the British Legion and Commonwealth War Graves Commission to witness Lance Corporal Matt Croucher GC mark the war memorial with ananti-theft liquid which will protect it from metal thieves. The marking ceremony is the first of its kind in Brent, but over the next few months all of Brent's war memorials that have any metal content will be marked with anti-theft liquid to protect them from metal thieves. There has been an 86% reduction in burglaries in the area of Brent marked with the anti-theft liquid compared to the same period last year.
