Street cleaning Kensal Green Streets contacted the Council regarding the litter in Furness and Palermo Roads around the school and shops area. As a result Brent Council contacted Veolia, did some site visiting and inspections and agreed that the state of cleanness of this area was not acceptable. As a result, the situation has improved and the area looks generally cleaner. It is a contant battle but things are slowly improving.
Disotto Development A meeting took place between some residents, Cllr Claudia and Mr Disotto and his architects. Following up on previous meetings, the architects had addressed some of the issues raised and will be putting their proposals to the Brent Planning committee. The new proposals are a great improvement on the initial ones, a couple of years ago.
Willesden Junction Cllr JunBo Chan has been in contact with WJ station manager regarding lighting on the access path (lights not working), cleanness of path area, cigarettes, litter, etc. The lighting matter has been finally resolved.
You might have noticed new planters with apple trees, etc at the entrance of WJ Harrow Road entrance and the back of platform 4. New trees have also been planted on the embankment near the bicycles parking area. This work was done by EnergyGarden and was a follow up of a meeting they had with residents last July, when various suggestions were made on how to improve the environment around WJ station. KGS are also going to have a meeting with WJ manager this week to discuss other projects.
2 Scrubs Lane development There is a consultation going on at the moment regarding a proposed development on the site of the Mission Church and Nursery. The proposal is for an 18 floors tower block mostly for housing which will also include the existing church and nursery.
Anti Dog Poo publicity on Furness Pocket Park KGS is restaring its education programme, in an attempt to make dog owners who use the pocket park to be more responsible and clean up after their dogs.
