Street Party celebrating the Jubilee is being held at Wembley Arena Square, 3rd June, 1200-1600 all welcome.
Area forum meetings in the local area which cover Willesden, Harlesden, Wembley discuss local issues. At the meetings Harlesden is less represented than the other areas and so if you are interested in attending please look in the Brent magazine where the dates will be confirmed.
The new youth club at Roundwood Park will be opening later this year and it would be great to encourage youth in the area to use this facility.
Environmental improvement budgets have been increased from £20k to £40k.
Harlesden Road and Wendover Road took part in a clean up on the streets and talking to shop owners regarding their rubbish collections and ensuring they have enough bins to discard waste - residents in the flats above the shops do not have their own bins hence rubbish being left on the streets. A couple of new bins have been placed in the area. They also arranged for skips in the area where neighbours were informed that they were able to put rubbish in the skip - so had a good clear out! Chris White - Head of Street Care has agreed to implement a number of measures and increase sweeping in this are from 2-5 times per week. Still concerns about the time it takes for larger pieces of rubbish to be collected - perhaps the street sweepers could report larger items 'dumped' on the street.
New 'No Dumping' sign required bottom of Odessa/Palermo Road.
There has been a number of burglaries in the area again and neighbours should be more aware of their surroundings and people who live in the street - keep our eyes open. Apparently the police have said that burglars know how to break in through windows with the old sash window locks - it maybe worth upgrading these if you have them!
Need to try and arrange some Neighbourhood Watch stickers that can be placed in windows.
Apparently there maybe a stock of items, window locks and stickers that maybe available to us Giselle / Sargent Gregory will hopefully be able to find them and let us know.
Michael Woods has agreed to set up a website where we can post comments and concerns, as an alternative to Facebook.
Street Party - this was mentioned however if people are interested in arranging this please let us know as the people who have managed this for the last few years are unable commit the time this year - it would be a shame if this is not able to go ahead!
We have arranged the next meetings for 17 July and 23 October; please put these in your diary and remind your neighbours.
