We're also meeting for an informal social this coming Monday (8 October) at the Royal Oak pub - pop in and say hi from 5.30pm!
New Residents Association in Harlesden
Harlesden Area Action has recently had their inaugural meeting. Our two groups are unaffiliated but are both working to bring positive change in Harlesden. We look forward to working alongside each other when and where suitable. In summary, here is an overview of our two groups' areas of focus:
Harlesden Neighbourhood Forum is a 4-year-old independent community-led organisation shaping community and urban development in Harlesden. We involve local people, support projects and influence local government processes relating to planning decisions - in particular on the topics of housing, transport, environment, local economy, community infrastructure and community engagement. We have developed a draft Neighbourhood Plan which we hope you will support to become a statutory planning policy document in the near future.
Harlesden Area Action is a newly-established independent residents' group set up to address some of Harlesden's challenges such as fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour. Their objective is to be a collective voice for Harlesden and intend to campaign, educate and pilot ideas through representatives and action committees in order to tackle these issues, while creating community cohesion. They have open meetings and are keen to include complete representation for the community.
We have been busy behind the scenes this summer preparing to launch our Design and Wayfinding competition project - see our initial call outs to get involved here. We've also been revamping our strategy and building our capacity as a Forum, and maintaining important local connections. News on this will come at the General meeting.
