TRIANGLE CLUB; SNT MEETING; STOLEN CARS

29/11/2018

Triangle Club hearing. The hearing of the licence committee that was going to take place on 13 November to decide on the application for a new club licence  in Harlesden High Street (the old Jet Set site), was postponed. In the meantime the date has been changed a couple of times. The latest is Friday 7 December at 9am at Brent Civic Centre, Wembley. If you have made representations you will know this. In the meantime we have to get some information as to why these changes are taking place and were told 'availability of people involved'. If you want to attend the meeting on the 7th you can do so without having to fill in the from beforehand. Just email Linda Legister letting her know that you intend to go. Up to 5 people can speak at the hearing. It would be good if some people could speak sharing their concerns and experiences, particularly from Palermo Road and Rucklidge Avenue.

Safer Neighbourhood Team Meeting 4 December at Newman College from 7-8pm. This is your opportunity to voice your concerns and get news on what is going on in Kensal Green and Harlesden directly from Kensal Green SNT police. It is very important to get a good attendance at this meeting to get the message across to the police that the residents value these open meeting with the police where they can voice directly their concerns. Their intention is to stop these open meeting and form a closed group of voluntary residents who are willing to meet regularly with the police.

Stolen cars. Since our previous posting there was one more case that we know of. Another car was stolen and towed away. Also a neighbour saw last week a couple of vans with Irish plates towing away cars. We don t know of course if this last event was criminal activity. We intend  to raise this matter with the SNT next Tuesday to find out if they are getting anywhere with this case.

CAR THEFTS

There have been a number of stolen cars in the area. The cars are picked up/towed away by vans/trucks and then sold for scrap. We know of at least 2 cars stolen at Palermo and Odessa Roads. The last one was yesterday afternoon at Odessa rd, sometime between 4 and 6 pm. The one in Palermo Road was, we believe early morning. The police are aware of it and investigating. We've been told that one of the trucks is blue and white and the other white, both with Irish number plates, but of course number plates can easily be changed!!. If you see any car being taken by a van please contact the police immediately and get as much information as possible. Aparently they are taking older cars. All we can do is be vigilant, take down any useful information and inform the police

Firstly we'd like to let you know the date of our December meeting and social has been changed to Monday 10th December - from 6pm upstairs at the Royal Oak pub. Please change it in your diaries, and tell your neighbours! There will be free hot food, our annual raffle, and your chance to be involved in an exciting next step for the Forum (info below).

November update

Thanks to all who attended our October meeting on the 25th. The draft minutes are available to access on our website here.
In summary:
  1. Becoming a charity: we had a presentation on our soon-to-be revised constitution to help us prepare for registering as a charity. This move is huge for us, and Harlesden, as it means we'll have more doors open to us in terms of funding and influencing. We need at least 15 people at the next meeting to vote on the new document - essentially whether you think it represents how we should run as an organisation in our community. The draft document will be circulated in our next email.
  2. Quarterly Forum update: our new quarterly one-page update which shows where we are with our various work streams and how they align with our strategy as an organisation. If you're interested in helping us take any of our activities further, we do welcome your time. See the update on our website here.
  3. We are always looking at ways to improve our communications within our capacity. Over the next couple of months, we'll be taking ideas, photos and messages from our members and supporters.
  4. Thanks to Dulce who told the Forum about the GLA's Plant a tree scheme - sign up for free trees! We're also working closely with our contact at Brent to advise on where Harlesden residents would like to see new trees planted. Get in touch for more info.
The Harlesden Festive Lights campaign is up and running again - why not contribute to brightening up the high street this winter? You can do it here
