POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONERS ONE YEAR ON

30/11/2013

Between the 11th October and 13th November 2013, the Neighbourhood and Home Watch Network (NHWN) undertook a comprehensive survey reviewing the perception of Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) amongst NHW members and the general public, one year after initial PCC appointments.

Almost 10,000 people took part in the survey, disseminated across England and Wales (excluding London). Results were fairly consistent with previous findings, suggesting that a healthy proportion of respondents know who their PCC is, although the majority still did not understand the role undertaken by their PCC. Key factors identified as communication, consultation and engagement continue to underpin findings, which may vary from force to force.

Dear residents

Some of you came to our Big Green Lunch last June at Furness School. You may remember that we did some community art and were very proud of ourselves when we saw the end product. That panel was just 1 of 25 that were painted by various community groups. Well, now is the time to see the whole picture.

The 25 panels together are being shown in the Brent Civic Centre. The inauguration is this Wednesday 27 November from 6 to 8pm. You are very welcome to attend but if you cannot come you can view the work at Brent Civic Centre any time until 2 February.

On a different note, you may also have seen some developments in Furness Rd Pocket Park. We are going to have new plants and spring bulbs. We are also planning to make a community mosaic on one of the end walls. We hope you will be part of this activity which is going to take place on Saturday 25 January from 10.30 to 3.30pm in St Marks Church. We will let you know the details later but for now put this date on your diary.

Our next Odessa Palermo Neighbourhood Watch meeting will be on the week of the 20th January but we are awaiting confirmation from Councillor  Claudia and Safe Neighbourhood Team. We'll let you know soon.

HARLESDEN INCINERATOR - EALING DEFERS DECISION - AGAIN!

6/11/2013

Application 04 on Planning Committee meeting on 6 November 2013: Energy Recovery Centre NW10As a result of the recent changes to the HS2 proposals – which included the reissuing of the Safeguarding Direction on 24 October to take into account the decision to proceed with the Northolt tunnel option – the council considered it appropriate to check whether the GLA’s position as set out in its stage 1 report still stands. The council is unlikely to receive any formal confirmation of the GLA’s position today in time for it to be considered at tonight's planning meeting. Therefore, the item has been withdrawn from the agenda and will be considered at a future meeting.
