Thanks to Brent Council for undertaking a thorough weeding session - we hope now to be able to keep the park tidy ourselves for a few weeks or months! Meanwhile we're watering the station gardens at Willesden Junction at least every two days. Volunteers needed to help, please!

Furness Pocket Park.. You might have noticed that the weeds are taking over the bushes in certain area. We are in constant contact with Brent Council, Veolia who looks after the park and Cllr Jumbo, regarding this issue, but they tell me there is no budget. They cut the grass and clean the litter but can only do weeding on rare occasions. One of the head gardners said that the idea of pocket parks was that the community would also get involved. So, we've been thinking that if we could get a group of people together, we could organise a couple of weeding sessions. The problem is only at this time of the year so it wouldn't take too much time. Please let us know if you are willing to help. Japanese knotweed.. Some properties in Palermo Road (even numbers) are having a problem with this weed coming from the railway embankment. If you think you are being affected by this, please let us know and we can pass on this information to Cllr Jumbo.. Neighbours day in Furness Pocket Park will be on Sunday 9 September. We will need fruit as usual so if you think you have fruit for us to pick for the juice making, please let us know. |
