In the new proposal, our new ward is called 'Harlesden and Kensal Green West'. This new ward keeps most of the present Kensal Green ward with the exception of the triangle between Purves Road and the Harrow Road. It is also extended to the west to include a section of Harlesden and it has 3 councillors. To see the details go to the portal below.
Some people are not too happy with this proposal and would prefer to keep Kensal Green ward as it is, but with only 2 councillors (due to the reduced number of people on the electoral register in the area).
There are obviously other possibilities but these seem to be the most sensible.
The consultation deadline is 15 April. You can have your say at: https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk/node/14501
or by emailing reviews@lgbce.org.uk
You can use the following text in your responses:
• (Kensal Green West) I support a 'Kensal Green West' only ward, which are CKG1, CKG2, CKG3, CKG4 and CKG5, plus CKG6 electoral districts. Kensal Green is a distinct community, and should remain as such. This would correspond to the existing Kensal Green ward, though it may also mean losing one of the three councillors.
• (Harlesden and Kensal Green West) I support the Local Government Boundary Commission for England's proposal for a new 'Harlesden and Kensal Green West' ward, which are CKG1, CKG2, CKG3, CKG4 and CKG5, plus CHA4 and CHA5 electoral districts.
2 - Junction of Furness Road with Harrow Road. The results of the consultation are out. There was a very good response to the consultation (120) and 82% of the respondents supported the proposal by Brent and TfL. You might remember the proposal included the creation of a new lane to turn left, two extra pedestrian crossings, a filter light for right turn from the Harrow Road to Furness Road and half a yellow box on the Harrow Road. It is expected that the works will take place in the early summer.
3 - Burglaries. We have heard there have been some burglaries in the Kensal Rise and College rd area. Some, apparently, involved someone ringing the bell and when the door is opened the burglar forced his way in. There haven't been any reports in our area. Just be aware. We will try to get more information from the SNT. For burglaries in general it is more secure to have two locks then a simple Yale lock.
Enjoy the beautiful trees we have on our streets. The cherry blossoms are particularly stunning. The fruit trees in Furness Pocket Park are also starting to flower.
