On Wednesday 23 January 11 people were arrested during a major operation targeting gangs in Brent as part of the Met's ongoing crackdown on gang crime across London. The series of 15 raids were carried out at dawn by 100 officers from Brent and Trident's Central Gangs Unit and assisted by officers from the Met's Territorial Support Group (TSG) and SmartWater (property marking technology).

A quantity of white powder believed to be crack cocaine and heroin and a quantity of bank notes were amongst the items seized by officers and cultivation equipment and cannabis were discovered in Streatley Road and Loveridge Road as the raids were carried out simultaneously across Brent. Those targeted are believed to be active gang members who are suspected of various drugs-related offences, including conspiracy to supply class A drugs.

The majority of the warrants were executed at residential addresses in and around South Kilburn.  The majority of those arrested were between the ages of 17 and 25 years old. All those arrested have been taken to police stations across north London where they currently remain in police custody at this time.

Officers also conducted weapon sweeps in the local area and leaflets about the operation and ongoing activity offer reassurance support to residents are being delivered by Safer Neighbourhoods officers, Council Wardens and Estate Wardens.  If you have any information about gang crime or those involved call Crimestoppers - an independent charity - anonymously on 0800 555111. In an emergency always dial 999.
